Stephanie has been home for over a week now. She was able to leave early from the USS Eisenhower (CVN 69) as her replacement, CDR Bill Hamblet, was ready to take over as the Intelligence Officer for Commander Strike Force Training, Atlantic. This may have been her last underway period in the Navy! At the end of this month, she will report to her new job in the Pentagon, working with the Joint Staff.
We anticipate that she will be promoted to the rank of Captain in August. We have arranged for a small ceremony to be held on Thursday, 3 August 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the morning. It will be held at The Women’s Memorial in Arlington National Cemetary, VA. There will also be a reception afterwards, probably on Friday or Saturday evening, but we haven’t figured that one out yet. Right now, we are more concerned about preparing our house for it’s new occupants and finding a place for us to live! We hope to see you all there as this promotion will probably be her “last” promotion in the Navy… unless somebody senior in the Navy has better plans for her. (hint, hint)
