Chantilly Multi-Level Sectional, Levels 4 and 5

The Leung Family traveled to Chantilly in Northern Virginia this weekend as Samantha was participating in her first Sectional Meet. Her squad did not compete until Sunday morning, so she had to practice Friday night, and Saturday morning. We then drove up that afternoon and stayed at a local hotel. There were almost a hundred girls competing in her session. Samantha had a small problem with the floor exercise (8.25) which cost her 1.2 points, but she recovered well and scored 9.0 vault, 9.0 on the beam, and finally fixed her bar routine (9.2). Gymnastics tournaments are usually about four hours long, but the total participation time of each gymnast is only about five minutes. So of course, these tournaments can be quite boring for some spectators…especially the younger ones. So what are parents to do? Well, thank goodness for technology!!!
