Steph Selects for Sea!

Woohoo! Stephanie just got selected for Sea. For Naval Intelligence Professionals, this is a major stepping stone to selection for Captain (O-6). Of course, she will have to do really well in her next tour onboard a ship. For a list of others selectees check here.

  

Since Stephanie was selected to Return to Sea, she will be looking for orders for her next assignment to go to a sea-going billet. Here are some of the jobs she could get: Battle Group Intelligence Officer (also known as Battle Group N2), Ship's Intelligence Officer onboard an Aircraft Carrier, Amphibious Group Commander Intelligence Officer and Numbered Fleet Commander Assistant Intelligence Officer. Since all of these jobs are on or near ships, the possibilities for locations are as follows: Norfolk, Virginia; Jacksonville, Florida; San Diego, California; Bremerton, Washington State; Yokosuka, Japan; Okinawa, Japan; or Gaeta, Italy.

Onboard the INS Lehav.This has been a year of many firsts. Stephanie is the first female attache assigned to Israel! Although she knew she was going to be promoted to Commander, before getting here, Stephanie was not sure where she was going to conduct the ceremony. The Israeli Naval Forces were generous and helped her conduct the ceremony on there top-line surface combatant, the INS Lehav. Additionally, the promotion party took place in Haifa. Stephanie could not have held this without the good help of friends in Haifa.

Everybody had a great time at the party and really enjoyed the Belly Dancer!

      

 

  

Happy 40th Birthday Stephanie!

Who says the Government can keep a secret? We recently threw a surprise birthday party for Steph's big 4-0. But there were enough hints throughout the month that should have given it away. Fortunately, Steph did not make use of her keen analytical abilities and was surprised at Col. Bass' house by about 70 people. Thanks to all for keeping the secret and many thanks to friends and family around the world who called or sent emails for her birthday. More detailed surprise birthday party stories here.

Opportunities Abound!

This has been one of the most challenging and rewarding jobs that Stephanie has ever had. She has gotten to meet with top leadership of Israel and work with some of the top leadership in the INF. Because of the special relationship between the United States and Israel, she has been afforded opportunities that are not available in any other attache position in the world.

OK, gotta put the good stuff in here. Since Steph has been here she has received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Joint Meritorious Achievement Medal.

Additionally, she has done some great stuff throughout her career.
